WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a story that includes a refrain that changes its meaning in the course of its narrative.
An easy way to do this may be to use a phrase that contains homographs - words that are spelt the same but have different meanings - allowing you to change the meaning of the phrase.
I Will I Will I Will Escape
I will I will I will escape,
Even when my mouth has tape.
I will I will I can be brave,
Even though I’ll be digging my grave.
My stubborn mind,
Will surely make you laugh off your behind.
For I will escape,
Even when I’m in perfectly good shape.
I will escape,
I’ll tell you why,
It’s your love,
That won’t let me fly.
This pleasant home,
Binds me by chains.
Not knowing why,
It holds my pain.
You say you love me,
And I know I know I know it’s true.
But when you repeat it,
You just make me blue.
If you love me,
You’ll let me leave
Not hold me tight
For I am choking on this leash.
Your love blinds you.
You pull and pull,
But push me away.
If this is love,
I’ll never show mine on display.
