My Mind Is A Prison
My mind is a prison
But oh look! There’s the key!
Maybe today
Is the day
When I’ll set myself free
Some days
There’s so much to live for
To do, to see
And I can’t wait to meet
What it will mean
To be me
But just like the ocean
Good moods come in waves
But then disappear
Like a document
That just never saves
Because
My mind is a prison
But oh look! There’s the key!
Maybe today
Is the day
When I’ll set myself free
I cleaned today
I was grateful
I actually went out
I experienced the joy
Others are talking about
But when I got home
I was so sad
Yet again
I guess sadness is jealous
I made one more friend
Because
My mind is a prison
But oh look! There’s the key!
Maybe today
Is the day
When I’ll set myself free
I’ve heard the rumors
About life
Beyond iron cell walls
How the sun shines brighter
For those
Who jump
When destiny calls
But can’t you see?
That’s not me
It won’t ever be
I don’t have the capacity
Or audacity
To even attempt
Being free
Because
My mind is a prison
And I can’t find the key
I don’t think today
Is the day
When I’ll set myself free
