Déjà Vu
“I’m just going to take a little nap…” Daniel said sleepily. His words were slurred and he was slightly hard to understand.
“No… NO!” Lola yelled at him. “Stay awake… please…” Lola could hardly hear herself over the sounds of people screaming, sirens wailing, and trucks honking at each other. She looked around to find the other people who were with her.
She found one of them knocking a person unconscious with a crowbar as they got attacked. She had no idea where the others were. Lola saw the clock tower, casting a long, dark shadow over her. She checked the time. _12:15_. She had checked the clock earlier on. This mess started at 12:00 on the dot.
Lola regained focus and took the sweater that was wrapped around her waist and tied it around Daniel’s bleeding thigh. She could hear him wince from the pain. Daniel’s eyes began to close, and she shook him back awake. Lola picked him up with all her strength and dragged him into an alleyway. She quickly looked around.
_No one here. Good._ She gently set Daniel down.
At that moment, she felt a sharp pain go through her whole body.
Lola jolted upright. It was a dream? She checked the clock.
_11:59_
_12:00_
And that’s when the alarm went off.
