Weaponry
Long ago, men fought with fists
Their power determined by simple brawn
Nature gifted some with strength
While others crumbled, quickly gone
The weak grew quickly tired of this
Constant belittlement like grubs
They needed something to their name
So men then invented clubs
With clubs, the playing field was matched
And soon the strong began to sweat
For winning by muscle alone
Was no longer a safety net
Though bruised and battered they became
They also found themselves quite bored
Of clubs not known for drawing blood
So men then invented swords
With swords came the advent of war
As killing turned into a game
The weak and strong struck to the ground
Each person more or less the same
But still they found their massacres
Were far too slow to be much fun
There was more damage to be waged
So men then invented guns
Guns could take in seconds flat
With more lives lost than could be counted
Battles were much quicker now
The moment their weapons were mounted
Yet they wondered for a way
To slaughter more with fewer arms
Strength now a measly afterthought
So men then invented bombs
Now bombs and guns and swords and clubs
Have desecrated this great world
The world that gave them very life
Now wrought with wicked flags unfurled
And yet it seems men still seek out
A new great tool to harm and vex
I fear the worst for humankind
In what they may come up with next
