STORY STARTER

Leaving
Write about a character leaving something, or someone, they love.
Hours And Glass
I finally know
What I didn’t know.
What it’s like to be an hourglass
Sometimes I’ll admit it all feels pointless
Rushing from class to class
Sand slipping through my fingers
The present
Becoming my past.
My skin’s exposed
As I’m needled endlessly with questions
About what I’m going do with my life.
I don’t know.
And it’s kind of exciting
In the way that I’m terrified.
I’m downright petrified.
Everything I know.
Will mean nothing.
13 years.
Did I learn anything?
Friendships out of convenience will perish.
It’s when you’ll learn who really cared more.
And we’ll get busy.
And you’ll say you’re just lazy.
And I’ll say I’m sick.
We’ll plan a day that will fall through.
And then you’ll forget.
And I’ll decide it’s not worth bothering you.
