STORY STARTER
The first sentence of your story starts with ‘Birds circled overhead’.
Think about how the type of birds you choose can symbolise the themes of the story.
My House Up North
Surprisingly I look up, and I see hawks circling overhead. Two birds of a feather, not surprising to see during spring.
It’s a cold spring morning, I wish it wasn’t. Why I chose to come back and live up north, is always I question I have on mind. I live with little to no service, in a small driving R.V.
I usually only come up here for the winter, the rest of the year I live an hour in a half down south. I choose to live up here to maintain my families land, and to maintain the house for rodents and pests. I do this work daily. I always aspired to do this job as a child, but now as I do this job as an adult, it’s not really as fun as I thought it would be. The fun part is getting to write all day, journaling submissions into the paper for every next day for the town that i live in normally. It’s spring now though, I can now return back home, and my family can come and camp up here to a nice clean plot of land.
I wish I could live up here during the spring and the summer. I wish I could wake up to fresh dew on the grass and the trees. I wish I could see hawks, eagles, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and hear the mourning doves sing. I wish I could see the elk and deer, run across the neighboring plot of land. I wish I could hear the coyotes howl throughout the night.
This is a view I would miss.
