The Dragon’s Stories
There was once a dragon
With eyes all aglow
And stories stories always waitng
For the village below
So he leapt into his from the sky
Ascended from his cave
He ached so badly to tell his stories
He tried to in every way
Yet the villagers screamed
“No, get this beast out!
He will destroy out village
Even eat our children, no doubt!”
“Please!” The dragon cried
“I just want a chance!
To tell my tales
To all of your folk
And hopefully extinguish
This fire you stoke”
But the villagers never listen
They never took his word
Instead they banished him
Back to his lonely cave in the sky
Where his only company where birds
Who occasionally flew by
He wondered what it was like
To be one of those birds
To be able to walk amongst the villagers
Who never bat an eye
At the strange feathered creatures of the sky
Yet how was it he
Nearly the same as them
Was banished and chased
Back up to his mountain den?
Why was it he couldn’t tell his wonderful stories
To the children below
Yet somehow the birds
Always got to go?
