Barnacle
What a privilege it is to be
A barnacle out at sea
With my home on the hull of a boat
On an ocean adventure I float
I’ve seen places and so many things
Of which other creatures only dream
On a ship tossed and turned by the waves
I’m a part of the crew, true and brave
I’ve seen a close call with a whale
Who damaged the boat with her tail
A plank-walking pirate passed by
On his way down he said hi
I’ve sat in the docks in strange lands
And hear voices I can’t understand
I’ve found myself covered in tea
From a ravaging rebel melee
I’ve often been kissed by a fish
One particularly do I miss
But sadly the boat travelled on
And the love of my life was then gone
Other barnacles stay on the rocks
To get stepped on by sandals and socks
But some of us travel the earth
For the truest sea creature rebirth
Yes we only have one life to live
So why not give it all we can give?
Sail the world over, just take it from me
A barnacle out at sea
