POEM STARTER
Write a simple rhyming poem about starting something new.
Whether it be a job, relationship, or even another poem, consider how rhyme can bolster your poem’s intentions.
Anew
You were such
a little guy,
with such a
big strong cry.
I held you close
in just one hand.
Everything else
just fell like sand.
I fed you as your
mother healed.
I couldn’t believe
that this was real.
You slept so sweetly
in my arms.
I knew I’d always
keep you from harm.
Your mom and I
had tried for years.
And there you were,
I choked back tears.
I knew right then,
the Father’s love.
We held you son,
Thank God above.
You came into
the world anew,
Your little smile
left us renewed.
Welcome to the world,
little one.
Mommy and Daddy love you.
