The color of gemstones and bluebirds and skies
the color of me and both my parents’ eyes
A color found in the depth of oceans so deep
and the color of sadness and calmness and sleep

a time when that color was a favorite of mine
This is a lovely poem. I started reading before I saw the title. I immediately recognized the color blue in your descriptions. Your words take the reader on a journey from “meeting” you and your parents and through oceans and skies with birds and butterflies. I especially liked the 4th stanza pairing the color of an old shirt and the hue of a nightlight as if taking the reader home, but that 7th line could be stronger. Right now it reads like a throwaway shirt worn “some time ago”. Perhaps you could add in a stronger descriptive of when it was worn. Unfortunately, I got thrown off in your last stanza. I was pulled out of the poem to ask myself “Blue time?” I know there is a blue hour, but maybe it fits, but right now it feels forced. Perhaps create a stronger description of the “almost-forgotten time”. The word “time” itself seemed overused. That being said, I like the sonnet twist at the end. Perhaps, find a way to use “time” only once. I hope these suggestions help strengthen your poem overall. It really is a lovely piece.
