There is nothing worse than a stranger's words weighing on your shoulders
Their life now dependent on what you say next
Is another soul going to meet god?
Shredded and torn by the world
The claws of society tearing it bit by piece
Until it feels it has no other choice but to leave,
To float upwards and meet the other angels who left before their time.
My job is to clip their wings before they choose to fly
To ground them and tether them to this world
To stitch them together bit by bit until my fingers are bleeding with pricks of the needle my shaking hands hold
But this duty has been bestowed upon me
I know it has
Because I know she gained her wings too early
My beloved
I know I could have stopped it, but I didn’t
When she rose to the heavens, I should have grabbed her scarred ankles and pulled until her angelic body lay on mine, until her frantic eyes pooled with the tears I refused to see were dried.
But I didn’t
I watched as her limbs were cut, bit to bit
Her blood soaking into my shirt, the blood I never even noticed
Her cuts open and jagged, I ignored them, refused to let my self see them
That’s why I let the callers tell me about their wounds
Because no one deserves to shake the hand of God before their time
So here I sit, everyday until I go home to my empty apartment
It won’t ever have a purpose anymore,
Even with me staying in it
It lost it’s life when she lost her

The usual script flows into the room
Only this time I’m not the one reading it.
