Manipulator
(This poem is one I wrote a long time ago on another app that forces its users to pay to write now, so I saw this prompt when I opened the app and thought it would be a great way to transfer this poem! It’s one of my favorite that I’ve written so I hope you enjoy!)
Life goes on, day after day,
But the way you treat others is far from okay.
Away on a whim, back again with no win,
This is not another story that I can spin.
I tried, I really did, just for you.
You killed my psyche with your mental coup:
Snuck into my brain to make me feel safe,
Only to put me in this eternal chafe.
I’m over with you, you did it yourself:
Took my kindness as a trophy atop your shelf.
No more days of being “the nice one,”
Where I would do nothing but run.
Have a nice life eternal,
Though I wish it’s infernal,
And from me, specifically,
C’est la vie!
