I am a beginner writer. I have had work published in one anthology, and hope to have more in the future.

Fractured spirits, peace forever broken,
A cold war of minds, tattered and spoken.
In the end it was me who was finally awoken.
Who knows what would’ve happened if I had stayed?
I could’ve been a husk if I believed what you said,
Could’ve beat myself up after the messages I read,
Or perhaps even been killed, torn up and dead.
Why do I still think about all the lies I obeyed?
Three personas so re...
What do we do now?
You’ve stripped me of all I am for amusement,
And there it went, the message you sent,
And here I must ask myself, how?
Maybe you don’t realize.
Is it always my responsibility to explain emotions,
Ones you set in motion, eyes blue as the ocean?
Must I force myself to be wise?
Did you care that I was nervous?
I gave you all of me on a silver platter,
But now it doesn’t matter, ...
(This poem is one I wrote a long time ago on another app that forces its users to pay to write now, so I saw this prompt when I opened the app and thought it would be a great way to transfer this poem! It’s one of my favorite that I’ve written so I hope you enjoy!)
Life goes on, day after day,
But the way you treat others is far from okay.
Away on a whim, back again with no win,
This is not ano...
Shattered hope alludes me so,
Deeply piercing while I am low.
Why should I bring up all my woes,
While staring at a dead red rose.
Is it lost or was it ever there?
Was it cheats or was it truly fair?
Does it matter or does it not?
Who really cares even if it’s bought?
Forgive, forget, and just put it away,
Lock it all up at your intense dismay.
It’s old, it’s new, it’ll begin again,
Just like it...
Was it crawling? There’s no way to know. The creature just… slid, using its arms to pull the weight of its body. Though the room was dimly lit, I saw the figure’s body inch closer and closer. Silence. The air was still with nothing but the smell of day-old blood and sour milk. Sat without even a twitch, I prayed it would move past me to the corpse against the refrigerator. It stopped at me, but ev...
Tiptoe round the corner,
Or you’ll be sure to mourn her.
Up the stairs, down the hall,
Lightly grazing the patterned wall.
Tick tock, time’s almost up,
Get to going or you’ll be stuck.
Run to the room, silent and steady.
Regardless, you’ll never be ready.
You’ll pant, you’ll huff and you’ll scramble,
But no matter, so hear this preamble:
Wait in your closet till you hear the drum,
Door shut t...
Quick pants and shortened breath,
The hunter and the prey.
Stop for one moment, should you dare?
Risk such, and your life could go away.
Beyond the veil of darkened mist
Is the shadows’ new best friend.
I stand alone with focused glare,
As my vision starts to bend.
Friend or foe?
Ally or enemy?
Regardless, there they lurk,
Waiting for the best of me....
Nothing. Can you imagine it? I don’t mean darkness, but a genuine lack of anything. They say space is a vacuum, as if it’s alien to us. But we’re the outliers. If we adults are mere newborns, space is an elder who refuses to die. If Earth is a gnat, space is the universe. The space between stars is just that. Space. An empty place that can be filled or left alone for an eternity. We aren’t special...
The fireplace roars, shielding me from those that lurk in the dark. Shadows don’t exist here, for there is dark, and there is safety. A shiver assaults my spine, forcing my head to turn towards it. They’re watching. Bodiless beings float freely through what doesn’t exist, waiting. My fireplace flickers, and a cackle comes from the nothingness enveloping the room. I wish it would leave, that I coul...
A violin is a magical instrument that produces a gorgeous sound. The bow gliding across the strings produces a light scratching, one like someone’s fingernails gently on your back, giving full body shivers. A good violinist can produce a melody that produces an array of colourful rings that give way to light and airy melodies, like a gust in spring on a prairie. The violin can also evoke emotions ...
