WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a story in which none of the characters can speak.
Try to think about why the characters can't speak and how they interact: are they unable to speak, is something preventing them from doing it, are they choosing not to?
SHHH
The two books open on the table are boring.
The black haired boy glances sideways at the other, and puts his hand on the table, between the two books.
The blonde boys eyes flicker over the pale hand, and his own rough hand joins it on the table.
The black haired boy watches as the larger calloused hand engulfs his own. A shy smile flickers on his lips.
The librarian, reading something long and educated and sat in a stiff high backed chair with minimal padding, looks up when she hears a scraping of chairs.
No-one seems to have moved, but- hang on. The two boys chairs are flush now. They’re sat with their sides against each other.
“SHHHH.”
