STORY STARTER

Inspired by Kail Cleo

Create a story by writing multiple diary entries from your character (or multiple characters intertwined).

Try to make each entry build from the last to add to the storyline. If you switch perspective, make it clear that it's someone else's journal.

Crush

Hers:

Dear diary, I've met a boy.

We met in the hallway between classes. His books fell, and I helped him pick them up. Our eyes met, and his green eyes made my face heat up.

Yes, I know this sounds like one of those cheesy love movies but it felt magical. We exchanged small talk and we agreed to meet in the library after school.

His:

Dear journal, I've met her.

We met in the hallway. She helped me with my books. Though I did panic, I was scared she saw the notes and pictures I'd taken of her. The last thing I want is to scare her off.

Anyway, we’re about to study. I thought the library would be best because there would be no interruptions.

Hers:

Dear diary, I've got ecstatic news!

He asked me out! I'm so excited!

His:

Dear journal, she said yes.

She's mine. No one can have her.

And if her friend keeps looking at her like that I swear I’ll…

Hers:

Dear diary, long time no speak.

I've been dating him for a little over a year now. It’s been so beautiful. He's so sweet. He always wants me close and always checks up on me. I feel safe around him.

Remember my guy friend? Well, I haven't seen him in three months. He is reported as missing. I hope he is okay.

His:

Dear Journal,

I did it. I'm the reason her precious friend is missing… and I don't regret it. He had it coming. He shouldn't have been near her in the first place. She's mine. I don't share. And I'd kill anyone who tries to take her away from me.
