He sneers at me as I pick up the broken glass.

“Shi—“ I cut my finger on the glass. My shaking hands move towards a towel to stop the bleeding.

“Really Grace, can’t even be careful picking up glass?” Jake grumbled.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t think.”

Jake laughs bitterly. “You don’t think about anything, ever.”

I stop.

I’ve had enough.

“Shut the hell up, Jake.”

He freezes, surprised. “What?”

“Shut up, shut up! Shut up!” I shout. “I’ve had enough of you always criticizing me! I’m done.”

I get up, my hand wrapped in a towel and leave Jake’s house, hoping to never see him again.
