COMPETITION PROMPT

Create a poem that delves into what is communicated in moments of silence.

The Good Kind Of Silence

Break the pattern, Your mind is scattered. Hope is fading? Your memory’s tattered. “Gone words speak empty promises.” Do you think it is all a lie? Would you think space is unreal, Or a promise beyond the sky? Quietude strikes when it must, And that’s a moment you must take. Seconds may seem like days, But it’s silence you cannot break. Thoughts, fears, and emotion unspoken… Try and listen to what is not there. Ideas, hopes, and love’s ‘round the corner, So listen to what’s hidden in the air. Cease the moment of a hushed voice, Realize it’s okay, and then rejoice!
