I despise you,

Yet love you all the same.

I feel the thorns pierce my skin,

Yet I allow your flower to grow.

You’re the cloud I cannot grasp,

The damn anchor that’s sunk too low.

If I admitted I loved you,

Would your voice echo the phrase?

What if you told me you hated me,

Would my heart be spared the ache?

I wish I never learnt your name,

Or that you ever entered my life.

But my dear, darling tragedy,

I could not forget you if I tried.
