The Monster of the Tree

Every night I wake up under the same crooked tree.

It scares me a little

Because it’s all I ever see.

The monster came

With its dark eyes

It looked right through my soul

Even though the disguise.

Long hair sprouts from its back

Light skin hides underneath the horrid fur.

Razor like talons attached to its feet.

This monster is a living nightmare.

Blood clings onto its teeth

Bones laying beside the skin.

I feel dizzy.

My soul won’t come back in.

I try to roll up in a ball

The monster just continues to stare.

I think to myself,

‘How is this fair?’

As if reading my thoughts

The monster looks from side to side.

It gives me a sly grin

That’s all I see before I die.
