I love the second and third stanzas especially. I also love how you approached the prompt, it’s creative and not like anything else I read. It’s really entertaining and the pace helps me enjoy reading it, it makes me want more of your tight descriptions of people at the check out. It makes me realize sometimes I look at people in the checkout and make up little stories about the people based on what they check out- which sounds silly but is just a fun creative way to make the store more interesting during grocery shopping. So I definitely related to this poem too. I liked it a lot. The last sentence felt a little cliché perhaps, it wasn’t as strong as the rest, almost like an afterthought. I do this sometimes too, I find endings to be difficult with poems especially. Im not sure how I would end it myself to be honest, but it’s something I’d consider while editing. Looking forward to more of your writing.
