Roots Unseen
We always marvel
At the grandeur of a tree
By its height,
Or it’s leaves,
Or the thickness of its trunk
But that is not how the tree continues to live
For that, you have to go under
Deep, wide, long
The roots snake through the ground
Without the roots
The could never have become grand
Without the roots
The tree could not live
Perhaps we should give more credit
To what lays beneath
To what stays unseen
