Stained Glass
Our relationship was not transparent and clean
We never worked like a well oiled machine
Rather, we were like an organized mess
But it was beautiful nonetheless
An assortment of colors and shapes
Formed through trials and scrapes
That makes something breathtaking
An intentional design there is no mistaking
With just one common thread
Something that went unsaid
That we both put in the work
Without counting like a clerk
Everything was split 50/50
Until that balance got shifty
Until I realized you had never tried
Until I realized we weren’t side by side
Still I thought I could do it alone
Hold it together like I’m made of stone
Because I thought you had my back
But you were the first to attack
That’s when everything shattered
That’s when my blood was splattered
Because the bonds meant to last for life
Are the ones that can cut you like a knife
