Too Bright to Hold
If desires are a flame,
then I am a wildfire.
If liking was a drip,
then I am a sea.
If my love is overwhelming for you,
then it is mine.
If the world was trying to shut me down,
I just started talking.
When the world was hating on me,
I was just opening my mouth.
When the world was ruining me,
I just tried my best —
but no one even tried to recognize it.
If I was too much for you,
I didn’t even give my everything.
If you thought that was my all,
it was just the start.
If you think I am beautiful,
just wait till I open up toward you.
When you think I am mean,
just wait till I can’t control myself.
When you think I am sweet,
just wait till I smile.
When you think you know me,
you don’t.
If you think I would go a thousand miles for you,
I will, in fact, burn the world down.
When you think I am at my lowest,
just know I was deeper —
lower, darker, lonelier —
but still breathing.
When you think I am happy,
yes, I am.
I always will be,
because there is no time to cry.
If desires are a flame,
then I am a wildfire,
waiting to burn everything around me,
taking everything with me
in my deep soul,
willing to do everything
to make you feel loved and enough.
You don’t have to try to stop me —
because it won’t work.
Sorry
