POEM STARTER

Submitted by Feywild

Write a poem on the theme of sacrifices.

Would you be mine

I sit in our favorite spot

awaiting your arrival

how foolish I must be

to waste my life here

I look around at

everything that once brought us joy

but as I sit in this seat

I'm overflown with despair

The bright green trees

now rot in agony

The birds who once sang

now spread symphonies of gloom

The time begins to pass

Six, then Seven, Then eight

yet I still sit here wondering

how long until I'm enough

We used to walk everyday

We couldn't leave each other's side

But now you won't even glance my way

trying to make me a missing memory

I know you don't care

that I'm wasting my life

sitting here

waiting for you to show up

But in truth I don't care

Because you were once my everything

and I'd do anything for my everything

No matter what it costs

So though I'm sacrificing my life

knowing it's one in a million

I'll sit here waiting

waiting for your arrival again
