A Date With Destiny

Fate must have really made an error for two people of completely different realms to cross paths… but that is exactly what happened.

Sylvia was from the light realm; she was an angel.

Axel was from the dark realm; he was a demon.

Their paths were never supposed to cross, but when fate made that error, it caused the very fabrics of their existences to become intertwined.

But that ended up with what I’d call… a date with destiny! An angel and a demon on a date, I wonder what chaos could take place…

**Sylvia’s Point Of View**

_How on earth did I end up on a date with, well, a demon?!?_ I wondered as I took a seat in the Galactic Cafe, across from where Axel was sitting.

That man… I mean, that demon, gave off a very dark aura that just put me off. I guess that was expected, as he was a demon.

But there was also something about him that… drew me into the darkness. I had no idea what it was about him, but there was definitely something about him that was alluring…

Was it his looks? Maybe. His attitude? Probably not.

Whatever it was, I had to say, for a demon, Axel was pretty attractive.

“So…” I said, “what’s it like being a demon?”

There was a period of awkward silence before Axel said, “well, my job is to torture those who wind up in the dark realm. It’s actually quite fun, you can get real creative with torture! You see-“

He stopped talking when he saw how utterly disturbed I was. Face pale, jaw dropped, eyes wide.

“I-I’m sorry, I’m not used to talking to someone like you…”

“Someone like me? What’s that supposed to mean?” I skeptically raised an eyebrow.

“Someone who… well, isn’t a demon. Normally, if I told a girl about torture, she wouldn’t be so… disturbed.” Axel mumbled.

“But,” he said. “I guess you’re a nice change of pace from the usual demon girls I go out with…”

I nodded weakly in awkward agreement.

“Thanks, I guess. You’re not so bad yourself… I’ve never gone out with a demon before, but it’s not proving to be as bad as I thought.” I replied.

Axel smiled at me and I instinctively smiled back, though this time, it was genuine. His seemed genuine too.

_Axel is pretty cute for a demon… _

_WAIT WHAT?!? _

**Axel’s Point Of View**

_For an angel, Sylvia’s kinda hot…_

_Wait… did I really just think that? I mean, it ain’t wrong…_

The moment I saw Sylvia’s genuine smile, something went off in my chest. My heart pounded rapidly, unlike any other feeling from any other circumstance.

_What is this feeling…?_

Awkward silence between me and Sylvia. Both of us, utterly lost in thought. I wondered what she was thinking about, and if she was having these weird feelings too.

_Why am I even thinking about this? I barely even know her! And on top of that, she’s an angel! I’m a demon! We’re from two COMPLETELY OPPOSITE realms! This is just an insanely chance encounter…_

Yet my heart longed for her.

_Is this what it’s like to fall in love?_

**Sylvia’s Point Of View**

_Well, I’m fucked… I fell for a goddamn demon! _I thought.

Love… what even is it? And why was I feeling it for someone I just randomly ended up on a date with?!?

It was like, hi guys! I’m Sylvia! And I’m a dumb angel who fell for a fucking demon!

Seriously! That’s how I felt!

_But… is it really that bad?_

_Maybe fate drew us together for a reason…_

No. No way. There is literally no way that my soulmate is a demon… I mean, come on! I was an angel, for god’s sake! Demons are like, the arch nemesis’ of angels!

_But Axel doesn’t seem too bad… he’s cute, and he’s decently nice._

Ugh.

You know what? Fine. I’m in love with a demon. But I was NEVER, EVER going to tell him! That’s like, asking for embarrassment!

_Let’s just see where this date goes…_

**Axel’s Point Of View**

_I’m in love. _

_I’m in love with an angel. _

_I’m in love with an angel named Sylvia._

_I’m in love with an angel named Sylvia, whom I’m on a date with._

_Wow. _

Still, the silence remained. Neither Sylvia, nor I spoke. Though I desperately wanted to break the silence, I had no idea what to say.

_Just say the first thing that comes to mind…_

“So… what’s your favorite color?” I said.

I mentally facepalmed. _Wow, real smooth, dumbass._

More awkward silence.

Then Sylvia giggled quietly.

“Blue. My favorite color is blue. What’s yours?”

“Red.”

“Red’s a good color.”

The awkward silence returned immediately after our little exchange.

I couldn’t believe that I had asked such a dumb question, but surprisingly, she didn’t seem to mind.

_She’s so cute._

**Sylvia’s Point Of View**

_He seems so… tense. I mean, this whole date’s atmosphere’s tension is so thick it could be cut with a knife, like seriously. _

But his question was just so… cute, in a surprisingly innocent way.

I wanted to keep our interaction alive, so I followed up with, “what’s your favorite genre of music?”

I knew it was a basic question, but basic questions are the building blocks of deep conversations.

“Heavy metal,” Axel said, “I absolutely love heavy metal. How ‘bout you?”

“Classical music. It’s just so serene, so beautiful… I don’t know why, but it just makes me feel so… good.”

“That’s cool. I’ve never been one for classical music.”

“You should try it! It’s AMAZING!”

“If you say so.”

We continued talking about random things for what felt like minutes, but in reality was hours. Axel was just so… alluring. Our bond was a lot stronger than before, and that surprised me. I mean, demons and angels didn’t generally have bonds at all! But we did…

Why?

What was so special about Axel and I that made us bond?

I pondered this question for a moment, unable to find an answer. So we kept talking.

Sipping on drinks, chatting the night away, this, this was a real date.

“Sylvia,” Axel smiled at me. “I just wanted you to know that I really enjoyed tonight. Your presence just has a way of making everything feel… serene. I really like you, and I hope we can do this again.”

That made me face fall slightly, because I knew we wouldn’t be able to do this again. This whole “date” was just a huge error on fate’s part, which wound up well, but would never, ever happen again.

“Oh Axel… I enjoyed tonight as well, but you and I both know that this is never going to happen again.”

“Why not?”

“This was just a huge error by the hand of fate, which will most likely never happen again. That means we’ll never see each other again. As much as that pains me, there’s nothing we can do to stop it. I’m sorry…”

Axel thought for a moment, then a grin appeared on his handsomely devilish face.

“We may not be able to see each other again… but I can make sure you never forget me.”

“How?”

The moment the word left my lips, I knew it was stupid. I knew exactly what Axel was going to do.

And I was right.

He leaned in and soon his lips met mine in a lovingly tender kiss. Our lips moved in rhythm, almost like a lovers’ dance. It. Was. Perfect.

Though when he pulled away, I saw that he was also starting to… fade away.

“Goodbye Sylvia, I’ll never forget you.” Axel said, a single tear slipping down his cheek.

“Goodbye Axel… I’ll never forget you either…” I said, and before I could even comprehend that he was gone, I broke down. Full-on sobbing.

A date with destiny.

A dance with the devil.

But it was all worth it.
