We Fly
We ran.
We ran through lush fields and over crashed boulders. We ran when the sun rained down its most heinous punishment, and when the clouds shined black with storms. We ran because if we didn’t, it felt as though our knees locked together and our feet rooted down.
We ran.
One step, two step.
One step, two step.
Somewhere in between, somewhere in the smallest fraction of a second, we flew.
We ran until we couldn’t feel our feet, either from pure exhaustion or because they simply didn’t touch the ground beneath them.
We fly.
