We ran through lush fields and over crashed boulders. We ran when the sun rained down its most heinous punishment, and when the clouds shined black with storms. We ran because if we didn’t, it felt as though our knees locked together and our feet rooted down.

I sat outside of the antique shop, staring down at the strange little object I had just purchased. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what it was.
