Pandemic
I looked at my sister through the thick glass windows of her small hospital room.
It was the year 3035, and the virus we had thought was long lost to history had returned, slowly creeping its way through the world again, like the way a vine creeps its way up the side of a house, thickening as it goes. The only thing that was different was that now, there were a select few people born with a special ability. It sometimes develops later in life, as mine had, though. I had been forced to begin medical training as soon as I found out about my ability. I could see who was infected with the COVID-19 virus. They looked similar to normal people during the beginning of their infection period, when they show no symptoms, the only difference is that the begin to appear slightly moldy looking, little green fuzz specks one could easily mistake for green lint. As the infection progresses though, they begin to develop more of the green fuzz, it slowly taking them over as the virus grows more serious. You can always tell when someone with the virus is close to death too. They look different than the regular infected. The way it works as I have figured out is the more green moldy stuff you have, the more likely you are to die. Once the green mold had fully consumed a person though, it will begin to blacken until the green is all a dark black color. Then you know they will die.
The doctor who was currently working on my sister came up to me and asked,”What does she look like?”
I stood silent for a moment. I couldn’t see her face anymore, and the green was dotted with black. That’s when I noticed that both me and the doctor had green specks all over our arms and hands.
