Pop Goes The Weasel

All around the mulberry bush the monkey chased the weasel the monkey thought it was all in good fun **_POP_** goes the weasel.

After the guests had left and it was only your family left at the party, your mother presents you with one last gift before bed. (Go to 1 if you’d like to open it now, and 2 for in the morning)

1) You smile as she kisses your forehead. “We saved the best for last”

You carefully tear the paper away so you can save it and reveal a dark brown box, perfectly cubical. It has strange carvings and looks old at best, if not ancient. Your parents know how much you like learning about old toys and must’ve found this as a hidden gem. Was it a puzzle box? You press a button that quickly pops it open. Inside is a worn stuffed monkey doll. Strangely, no matter what angle it was facing, it always seemed like the doll was looking at you. You take it out and set it on top of the box. It gave you a sort of eerie feeling. Almost making you want to throw up and causing you to instantly feel feverish. You smile at your parents as a thank you and try to hide the sick feeling. Maybe it was the cake? (Go to A to admit the sick feeling, or go to B to go to bed now and hope it goes away in the morning)

2) You get up from the kitchen counter and hug your parents good night before taking the wrapped present to your room. You leave it on your dresser facing your bed. The lights are shut and you cover yourself in your blankets. It’s best to leave one gift for tomorrow. You close your eyes and wake up to a loud pop. The sound seems to have come from the dresser where your gift is but as you look over, the wrapping paper is torn and two shining plastic eyes are staring at you from the night stand next to your bed. Your eyes have to adjust to the light first. There a stuffed monkey is next to you from the box. A dirty trick it must’ve been. “Hello?” You look around but nothing seems to be there in the darkness of your room. It’s pointless to look around really. (Go to C to tell your parents, or go to D to put it back in its box)

A) “Momma I think I’m coming down with something- could you make some tea for me before bed?”

“Sure honey I’ll grab the honey”

She smiles and walks off, leaving you and the box alone.

B) “I think I’m gonna go to bed, can I leave this out here?”

“Sure that’s alright but make sure to get it in the morning”

“I will”

You head to bed after hugging both of your parents and changing into comfortable pjs.

C) You step out of bed but some invisible force keeps you from opening the door once you get to it. The lock seems to be fine but the door won’t budge…

D) You gently pick up the monkey and set it in its box.

“I know it’s not fun in there but it’s where you stay. I’ll leave the lid open okay?”

You think about how it must sound to be talking to a stuffed animal but it’s not like anyone else is around.
