I never knew holding onto you would be so hard

I never thought that losing you would feel so right

I never want to think of how easy you were to disregard

The time I wasted hoping to find you would be the one

Just to find out you were not.

I let life happen and the waves approached

They hit the edge of the sand like a tsunami wave

All havoc was unleashed and all pain was ceased

As I watched all that I had become wash away.

I knew the waves were making me clean

They took away my pain and my unwanted plans

They gave me new opportunities and a fresh place to start

A cleaned off beach and a new outlook at life
