On my special day

There a present lay

I tore at the wrapping

Hoping I’d be clapping

But it was just a map

Surely this is a trap

Who would give this gift

Someone with thrift

But I’ll play along

Even thought it’s wrong

So I follow the trail

Sure it will fail

I twist and turn

And adventure burns

This is becoming fun

And I start to run

Closer to the end

I go round the last bend

And look under the tree

What could it be

My heart skips a beat

The ultimate treat

At the end of my hike
