Best Friend
Stacy stared at her best friend, Francine. A small smile on her face as she looked Francine up and down. Her best friend was beautiful. She had everything, pretty hair, perfect body, lots of money, she could drive, she had a boyfriend. She seemed to have a wonderful life with no struggles. Stacy moved closer. Francine was talking about a trip to France.
“Lucky…”
Stacy whispered, slowly stroking Francine’s hair. Francine just gave a small smile and kept talking about all the things she was going to do on the trip. Was it bad that Stacy wasn’t listening? Was it bad she thought of ruining her trip just to see how her beloved, perfect, with no struggles best friend handled misfortune? … yes, it was bad that she thought about her best friends down fall but could anyone really blame her? All she hoped for was… to protect Francine. You might say, how is protecting Francine? It’s protecting her by showing her bad things do happen in life. That’s all…
“Hey, Stacy.”
“Yeah?”
“Would you like to go on the trip with me? We can have so much fun together. Dad said I could bring a friend.”
“I would love to go with you!”
“Yay! Everything is going perfectly like I planned.”
“Perfect like you, my dearest best friend~”
The last thought in Stacy’s head… <We’ll see if that remains true>.
