He always hated going to the Doctors. If he could avoid Doctors forever he would but he knew that wasn’t a possibility now. He was in desperate need of money and had already done everything he could… last thing waiting for him now was getting his blood drawn. He hated needles, hate seeing blood, hated the sensation, hated how he always cried, hated the wait, hated everything. Yet the amount of money that was given to him for the blood was more than enough for his rent. So in he went to the place he hated most, the doctors office.
Inside, the wait to get his blood drawn was driving him crazy, he almost left; though as soon as he got up to leave, his name was called. <Great> He thought as he followed the nurse to the back. He sat in a chair, he hated how it was always cold, how it made him feel small. He kept quiet and did what he was told. He hated seeing the nurse pull out the materials, hated how even the alcohol wipe felt on his skin. He hated the pressure his arm was being put in, just to get a vain out. He looked away, he didn’t want to see his blood leaving his body, he hated that too. Then… it happened, he felt the whole process and his blood leaving his body. He hated everything. The needle felt like it was getting bigger but now he was used to it. That how he knew the nurse was done taking his blood. Everytime he felt even a little bit comfortable, something rips. This time literally as the nurse accidentally ripped the needle harshly out of him. The nurse apologized and he forgave her quickly but everything he hated somehow was now ten times worse.
He left the nurses office with money in his pockets and one hand hold the arm that was used to take his blood. If there’s one thing made clear on this day. Every visit to the doctors office made him hate the medical industry more.
Stacy stared at her best friend, Francine. A small smile on her face as she looked Francine up and down. Her best friend was beautiful. She had everything, pretty hair, perfect body, lots of money, she could drive, she had a boyfriend. She seemed to have a wonderful life with no struggles. Stacy moved closer. Francine was talking about a trip to France.
“Lucky…”
Stacy whispered, slowly stroking Francine’s hair. Francine just gave a small smile and kept talking about all the things she was going to do on the trip. Was it bad that Stacy wasn’t listening? Was it bad she thought of ruining her trip just to see how her beloved, perfect, with no struggles best friend handled misfortune? … yes, it was bad that she thought about her best friends down fall but could anyone really blame her? All she hoped for was… to protect Francine. You might say, how is protecting Francine? It’s protecting her by showing her bad things do happen in life. That’s all…
“Hey, Stacy.”
“Yeah?”
“Would you like to go on the trip with me? We can have so much fun together. Dad said I could bring a friend.”
“I would love to go with you!”
“Yay! Everything is going perfectly like I planned.”
“Perfect like you, my dearest best friend~”
The last thought in Stacy’s head… <We’ll see if that remains true>.
Im a world where everything you say turns literal, I made the biggest mistake. Here’s what happened~
~Flashback~
Regina has sent a reel
I smile and pick up my phone. Seeing my best friends name on the screen of my phone was always a highlight to my day. Especially when she sent me videos. They were always funny and it always turned into a long conversation. I clicked on Instagram and watched the short reel. Chuckling, it was a compilation video about old Vines. The last one being karma happening quickly. I tap on the voice message and start talking…
“Girl, that last clip is literally me!”
A simple phrase, right?
~End Flashback~
Wrong, texting doesn’t form concequences. Only when talking does one have to be careful. That was the first thing taught as a child. Now I have to face my consequences, my life morphed into the last clip, forever and constantly being dumb and recieving karma. All traces of who I was now gone. Memories, property, everything, it was like I as a person never existed to the real world… now, all I am is a short clip.
The last clip is literally…
ME.
He narrowed his eyes at her, laughing nervously.
"What do you mean you've killed someone?"
"I'm dead serious, babe. We need to get moving. Pack your bags.”
His mouth dropped and the laughing died in his throat.
“My goodness… you’re actually serious?”
“Yes and we need to get going before the police arrive.”
She seemed calm, already packing her bag.
“Oh, and only bring the essential items. We don’t want them to think we moved but to think we’re on vacation.”
He stared for a while, heart pounding so hard, he felt like it would jump out of him soon. She stopped packing and looked at him. A bit irritated to still see him standing without doing anything.
“Babe, let’s go. Get your stuff. I’ll explain more in the car.”
She went back to packing and he slowly went to his side of the room and started packing as well. The silence in the house was deafening and his emotions were all over the place. Once everything was packed, they got inside the car. As she started to drive, his nerves were higher than ever.
“Babe, wait-!”
She looked at him, concerned.
“What’s wrong?”
“This is wrong. Everything that has happened in the last 24 hours is wrong. If- if you killed someone, you need to face the consequences.”
She sighed and thought of a way to talk to him and also soothe his nerves.
“Jake, listen. I know what I did was wrong but emotions were high and the guy crossed the line. He would’ve done worse to me and to other women in the future if I hadn’t have killed him. Don’t think of it as running from justice but think of it as running from an unfair trial that will ruin both our lives over me bringing justice to that man.”
He listened and somehow, it worked. Her voice and message soothed his nerves. He nodded slowly.
“If you say so… where are we going?”
She smiled, happy he was on board now.
“Far away from New York… California.”
He sat back and got comfortable in his seat.
“It’s going to be a long drive…”
She put a hand out for him to hold. It took him a minute but he held her hand.
“I love you, Babe.”
“I love you too.”
Louis was home alone for the first time. She had finally left her parents home. She loved her parents but they were strict and overprotective. Most people would be nervous but as night time fell and her parents were no where to be found, her stomach clentched a little and a bit of excitement cursed through her body. Out of habit she did what she had always done in her parents home, even though she thought it was pointless. After her usual night time routine, she went to bed, after a few minutes of having a hard time falling asleep. She decided it was time to try something new. She turned off all the lights, turned off anything that made noise, and she even turned off the fans, choosing instead to turn on the airconditionar. As she looked srojnd to see if she wanted to do something else. her stomach clenched more.
"That's weird…"
That never happened to her and she knew it wasnt hunger. Even though she had a bad gut feeling, she felt powerful and ignored her gut feeling. She went to open the curtain blinds, looking out and seeing pure darkness.
"At home I wouldve never been able to do any of this without getting in trouble."
She scoffed and went back to bed.
"They were ridiculous, it’s perfectly safe to have the house like this too and more comfortable at that.”
She laid in bed and closed her eyes hours passed and it’s now midnight Louis awoke to the sound of knocking both at the door and the window next to her bed. Her heartbeat pounded in her chest as she opened her eyes and sprung up from her bed. Looking at the door, slightly opened and with a bloody message written <You should’ve taken safety measures if you wanted to live longer>. Through the door crack, she could see a figure with a non-human smile. Then she heard the knocking at the window again… slowly she opened the curtains. Screaming loudly when she saw her dead parents heads hanging from a tree. She turned to try and run away. Opening the door more, which caused the monster to kill her too…
Dark, sad, heavy, and rain.
The two friends, walking around town, did not plan for their night to end like this. They had originally been with their friend group, going around town and finding places to have fun in. The start of their night was incredible, the end… almost tragic.
It all went down hill, at the arcade.
“Lisa! Anna! Let’s keep moving, there’s more than one game here!”
A boy name, Richie called out to the two girls who seemed to want to stay at the dancing machine.
“We’ll do one more dance and then we’ll join y’all!”
Anna called out to Richie. Richie gave her a thumbs up and left with the rest of the group. Anna looked at Lisa and they both started chuckling.
“Two games then we go to them.”
Anna nodded and started looking for a dance they could play.
“Absolutely, it’s not everyday this machine is available to play.”
“To think it’s usually us that are waiting for this machine to be open.”
Lisa looked around to see another pair of girls staring at them. Anna gasped, which cause Lisa to look away from the other girls and look at Anna.
“What?”
“They have Lady Gaga here, we NEED to play at least one of her songs.”
“Alright but-“
Before Lisa could continue her sentence, she spotted Anna’s ex boyfriend making his way to them.
“Click it, your ex is coming this way.”
Anna made a face and clicked to play the song quickly. As they started, Anna’s ex was close to them.
“Hey Anna, missed me so much you decided to stalk me and follow me to the arcade?”
Anna’s ex laughed and both the girls rolled her eyes.
“I’m not here for you, I’m here with my friends.”
“Yeah and after we’re done playing this game, we’re going to them and as far away from you as possible.”
Anna’s ex scoffed.
“Yeah right, I don’t believe that for a second but since you’re here for me, might as well join me and my friends for dinner.”
“Firstly, it’s my friends and I, not me and my friend. Second, we’re dumb, wouldn’t do something that stupid”
Anna yelled, she stopped dance and Lisa did the same. Both of them got off the machine and started walking away from him. He followed behind them, his friends trailing behind, laughing me.
“Oh come on, don’t be like that you two.”
“Stop talking to us!”
Lisa yelled at him and turned to whisper to Anna
“Should we leave? We’ll text the friend group, I’m sure they’d understand.”
Anna nodded and pulled out her phone to do just that. The ex heard Lisa though, an angry expression on his face as he came to a halt.
“Fine leave…”
One of his friends called out to them, in a taunting tone. Which made the two friends shiver and run out the door, not caring about the rain or that it was dark, one thing rang through their minds as they now walk in darkness.
“Be careful out there~”
