STORY STARTER

Write a story that starts in a calm library, and ends with an illegal car race...
Focus on how you make a believable transition between these scenes.
Friday Night
Zane and I study endlessly in the quiet library. The only sounds are flipping pages, small whispers, and clicking pens.
“This is stupid, why are we studying on a Friday night?” Zane complains, his hand in his hair, anxiously studying.
“Because we have an exam on Monday that’s worth half our grade,” I respond, trying to focus on the material.
Zane sighs, plastering a grim look on his face.
I roll my eyes.
“Fine. One more hour and then we can go get some food. How’s that?” I say.
He smirks. “Sounds good to me.”
An hour later, we pack up our things and head to the car.
Zane drives, but he isn’t heading towards food.
“Zane, where are we going?” I say, annoyed.
“To race some cars.”
“Zane!”
“Please Ellie, it’s Friday. We have all weekend to study and relax and—“
“Fine.”
And so, our Friday night comprised of illegal racing and loud music.
I sat away from all the chaos, silently studying in my head as Zane ran around having fun.
I wish I was still in the library.
