Unrequited

Do you know what love feels like? It fills your heart with butterflies and makes you dizzy with happiness. It makes you feel a warmth you can only get from the fireplace at home on cold winters day. But what if that love were to be unrequited? It’s like all time around you has stooped. The butterflies turn into tiny knifes, cutting you deep and bleeding you dry, but you smile. The happiness is replaced by a sickening nausea, filling your head with an endless throbbing pain. Your mouth once filled with laughter becomes dry and your throat scratchy. Red cheeks become raw and tear stained. Time is flowing around you while you find yourself stuck, a shell of yourself trying to hold on to what you used to be.
