This night is grey and long

The moon is hiding, the stars are dim

The darkness is an ocean

And it turns out, I can’t swim

But after struggling through night

Treading water, sinking slow

This view I thought would be my last

Now has a faint golden glow

There is hope on the horizon

It’s a light I can barely see

There’s a subtle shift in colors

A sunrise warming me

I’m not sure if today will be better

Maybe this daylight is just for show

But for now

This reminder that the sun always rises

Is all I need to know
