POEM STARTER
Write a poem that could be sung as a lullaby.
You could set it to the tune of an existing lullaby, or think up your own rhythm. Remember that lullabies are for children, and are ususally meant to be calming.
To My Future Children
Once upon a playground swing
You found a way to fly.
Picking flowers in the spring,
We watched the clouds drift by.
Tea parties with your teddy bear,
And splashing through the rain.
We fingerprint without a care,
A memory in every stain.
Singing silly, little tunes,
You memorize each word.
Hang on tight to your balloon,
You might become a bird!
Together, our hearts grow oh so wide.
You know I love you so.
I’m next to you in every stride,
As you just grow and grow.
The moon and stars watch over you,
My God’s little work of art.
Oh, my darling, if only you knew
You own my entire heart.
