The Fishing Pier
“Wow! I can’t believe! Not a single fish!” My brother said as he starred in to the water with a frown on his face.
“I told you! I’ll collect my winning now.” I said with a grin on my face.
Now I am sure your wondering why I said I’ll collect my winnings for my brother not catching a fish so, I’ll tell you. It all started around dinner last night. It was are first night in Alaska and me and my brother went out to explore a little.
“Woah! Look at this fishing pier!” My brother said as he ran over to see it.
I looked over the edge and said, “I doubt there are any fish.”
“Really? Want to make a bet? I bet if I come out here with a fishing pole tomorrow I could catch a fish in an hour.” My brother said with a grin on his face.
“Make it two hours,” I said, confident that I would win.
“Okay, 20 dollars to the winner?” My brother said with that same old grin on his face.
“Deal,” I said as I shook my brother’s hand.
We headed back to the campsite for dinner. I couldn’t help but think that I might be ripping my brother off, but I was to distracted by dinner to do something about it. Before I knew it we were headed out to the fishing pier. I wasn’t even thinking about the bet, I was thinking about the fact that it was -10°.
“Let’s call this off and go home, I think I am going to get frostbite!” I said as I stood there practically frozen.
“I will give you 10 dollars just to stay here with me!” My brother said with that sweet smile on his face. So I gave in and stayed. After a little, it warmed up and I was getting really happy as we neared 2 hours.
“Wow! Not a single fish!” —
And that is the whole scoop and the reason I am thirty dollars richer!
The end.
