Two pairs of shoes- just two to fill her closet. Well I guess three if you’d count her shower flip flops but really just the Nike sneakers she wore everyday; women’s sneakers she had to add, and ugly black snow boots. Dirty scratches covered the sneakers but the snow boots remained untouched. There was little wear in the back of her shoes because she walked on her toes, even as an adult. Perhaps it was the one thing she wished to keep with her from childhood. I think if she died today I’d want to keep those shoes in my closet to remind me of her bare dorm. The boots faced the door on the left if you face the closet and her shower shoes just stayed near her desk. Those sneakers so rarely came off they didn’t have a designated spot.
