‘Ultimately, she decided to marry the king, but not for power or riches...’
A New Beginning For A Despot.
The queen-to-be strides down the aisle,
Gripping the bouquet of lily-white roses,
Moments away from her second chance,
Seconds away from a new beginning.
She was dressed in a flowing, poofy gown,
One that could camouflage with the snow outside,
Elegant diamonds resting on the start of her cleavage,
And her face decorated but covered by a thin veil.
She can feel their gazes penetrating through,
The nobles trying to shoot her down,
Showering her with their uncertainty,
Showering her with their resentment.
Yet, she can’t blame their hesitancy,
She was once an insensitive devil,
A despicable tyrant,
That gave all in her path maltreatment.
Of course they would still have their doubts, They think that the king didn’t change her at all, That this wedding was all a part of a scheme, But they couldn’t be more than incorrect.
She wanted to marry the king; His conversations with her adjusted her perspectives somehow, She now wishes to be a better ruler to people, And he gave her the opportunity to do so.
When she finally reaches the king, He steals a small, nervous smile from her soft lips, “Please do not mind them; I promise you’ll be great,” he whispers, Before the officiant began to speak.
(Ik this might not be much, but I wanted to write for my own prompt 😅. Thank you for reading!!)
