Onward

The field was a vast expanse of beautiful grass and greenery.

I held tightly to Mara’s hand, hoping she wouldn’t run for the looming tower of purple smoke that rose in the distance. I couldn’t trust it, and yet it called to me like nothing had before.

And so I started walking. Mara’s small hand in mine and an unbrella shielding us from the drizzle with fear in our hearts but hope in our stomachs, we walked onwards. Onwards until we could see the churning of the smoke column.

Onward until we could we the people surrounding the pillar.

Onward until we saw the large purple fire that fueled the smoke.

Onward until we could smell the delicacies.

Onward until our hearts were beating one word in sync: home.
