A Surprise

I smile at Tina as she tells me about how she met her boyfriend.

“And then he asked if I wanted to go to dinner again the following week,” Tina explains, drinking her coffee.

“That’s so romantic,” I laugh.

“How did you and Andrew meet?” Tina asks, chewing on her scone.

I smile, but it suddenly fades when the memory of us meeting fails to come to mind.

“Well…” I trail on, searching frantically for the moment I met Andrew.

Tina laughs. “You don’t remember?”

I shake my head. “No, no of course I remember!” I decide to make up a lie. “We met on the park bridge.”

After brunch with Tina I immediately go home to inquire about where I met Andrew.

“Hey, Andrew,” I call out, “where did we meet for the first time?”

Andrew suddenly freezes, but shakes it off and laughs.

“We met at the corner store, don’t you remember?”

The corner store? No. That can’t be right.

Suddenly, bits and pieces of memory come clear.

I was on top a building. It was windy. I fell. A man flew and saved me. He looked like Andrew. _He was Andrew._

“You, you saved me,” I whisper.

Andrew’s face turn cold. “You can’t tell a soul.”

All in a flash, I piece the puzzle together.

“You’re, you’re Superman!”

Andrew gets up in a flash and says, “You can’t tell anyone, okay.”

I laugh and laugh.

I am dating Superman!
