Cold War

Fractured spirits, peace forever broken,

A cold war of minds, tattered and spoken.

In the end it was me who was finally awoken.

Who knows what would’ve happened if I had stayed?

I could’ve been a husk if I believed what you said,

Could’ve beat myself up after the messages I read,

Or perhaps even been killed, torn up and dead.

Why do I still think about all the lies I obeyed?

Three personas so real, you must be insane,

Just to sit there, gloat, and cause me more pain,

Now one remains, the other two slain.

Where do I go after your failed cerebral raid?

The belief now is naievety is one’s downfall:

One who cowers is overpowered by those strong and tall,

Now I see manipulation cares little at all.

What sort of world makes such a life’s light fade?

A war can warp, change, and break a man,

And many of minds can alter his plan,

This is just what I’ve learned from my lifespan.

When will someone truly come to your aid?

Does it even matter? You make many miserable across all lands,

You expect people to adhere to your psychotic demands,

And even after all this is said, one question still stands:

How will you fare in a bed that you made?
