POEM STARTER
Inspired by Silver_Fox
If your hand could reach inside my heart, what would you do with it?
Write a poem with this as the opening line
What Would You Do?
If your hand could reach
Inside my heart,
What would you do with it?
That is the only question I must preach
In the work of art
That is words from my heart.
I want to know,
I really do,
How would you treat my heart
If it were controlled by you?
Would it be broken,
Shattered?
Or worse, forgotten?
Would you leave my heart behind
In the darkness within your mind?
All I can do,
And all I can say
Is please, my dear,
Don’t lead me away
From the path I have chose,
But I know, if you could,
You’d leave my heart frozen.
You’d let darkness
Take my heart in
As a new member
Of its kin,
No brightness
To light up my heart
If it were even still there.
Though it probably
Wouldn’t be,
Because when I gave my heart to you,
All you did was break it
And forget about me.
So no,
My heart would have nowhere left to go,
For it wouldn’t be there,
I mean,
Life isn’t always fair…
