Veena exited her class. The day was finally over. Her friend, Alisha, joined her as she headed for the bus exit.

"And how was your day?" Alisha asked.

"Fine." Veena replied. "But you see that kid over there?"

She pointed at a tallish guy, no hair and brown eyes.

"What about him?" Alisha started skipping.

"He likes me." Veena whispered. "I don't really know how I feel back, though."

Alisha did something unexpected next. She leaves Veena's side and goes right up to the guy.

In a very loud voice, "Veena likes you back!"

Alisha returns to Veena's side quickly. Veena seathes.

"No, I said I didn't know how I felt!" Veena hissed quiet enough for just Alisha to hear.

Alisha walks a little ahead of her. "Oh never mind she doesn't!"

"Alisha!" Veena growled.

Clearly embarrassed, the guy rushes quickly away, and Veena can only watch.

"Bye Alisha." Veena leaves her friend this time and disappears into the crowd.

She felt terrible. Above all the heads, Dusty's was easy to spot. She resolved in her head that she had to talk to him tomorrow, to make up for her inconsiderate friend. When she got home, she immediately sent him an email asking to walk together and talk.

He never answered. And Veena didn't want to push it.

Random and probably unexpected, but my brain randomly reminded me of this moment this morning and I decided it was a good idea to make this.

(It also made me come up with how this potentially could have better ended, but we don't talk about that)
