The Library Ghost
The library is her sanctuary of sorts, a serene entity that envelops her with its non-judgmental embrace as she devours book after book. Yes, a library could elevate anyone's miserable existence into one with meaning but tonight it gives her the most luxurious award, a night trapped inside. It was an experience that every book lover dreamt of as they drift off to sweet plot-filled dreams. Her phone's flashlight keeps her from sitting in the dark as she uses it to finish the book she’s currently engrossed in.
“Have you heard the phrase never read in the dark?” She hears an odd-sounding voice say, causing her to leave the safety of the book and become more conscious of her surroundings.
“Who’s here?” She demands.
She feels something crawling on her and jumps from her seat which makes her book drop.
“Let me teach you why it is said,” The odd-sounding voice speaks again and she feels herself sinking into the library floor.
She screams, her book left unfinished and the ghost of the library picks it up, returning it back where it belongs.
