The Children

The fifth floor of the apartment on 26th street was always crowded, bustling with fun. There were many nooks and crannies for children to hide in, many rooms leading to more, secret places not everyone knew about.

Mary, James, and Kam lived in the apartment on the left side on the fifth floor. Camila and Jordan lived on the right side. They loved to sneak away to see each other, quintuple trouble. They had many secret passageways and hiding spots. Their caretakers liked to say they were the sneakiest, slyest, most mischievous little things they’d ever come across. They loved to joke about how well the children would be at stealing or spying. But how did they know the children weren’t doing that already?

Those two little apartments on the fifth floor hold so much, not in items, but those kids. What is in their minds and in their hearts and in their energy.
