What’s Success to a Life Line?

I will always love you, brother,

But you always had it out for me.

I don’t know why you can’t see,

That I’m the one who’s struggling.

I can’t help myself not to feel

Envious of my more successful other,

But in all truth and reality

You’re the one with a family, a charismatic mother.

You were jealous of her softness towards me,

And how she helped me with her advice.

Though I’m not sure you fully know,

She’s the one who talked me off the ledge that night.

She told me “I had a purpose,

“And don’t I forget that either.”

“The sky is your limit,” she said,

But that same cloudy sky made me feel worthless.

But you’ve always been fine, I assume?

I see it from behind your successful shadow.

Jason Miller, the delectable charmer.

But me? Well, I’m nothing but a harmer.

So, tell me. Why are you full of craze?

Why are you playing these jealous games?

’Cause when I look into your eyes,

It’s my future that goes up in flames.

In the end, I don’t blame you,

You know I never will.

But honestly, can you still get full off of that meal,

When your other half is spiraling down still?

Just look at the full picture, brother,

That’s all I ask.

I’m the one who’s got a life line,

But you’re the one burying the casket.
