STORY STARTER
Submitted by Lana Rose
Time keeps randomly stopping around you, and you think it is you who is doing it. Then one night you are at a party, and time stops. Everyone is frozen, except one person at the other end of the room...
The Time Thief Pt 3
“Hello?”
Still nothing. I stomp the floor with my foot angrily.
“Oh come on!” I kick the grass.
Then I shiver.
It’s _freezing _out here.
“Correolanus aren’t you supposed to be here and give me your jacket or something cheezy like that?”
Again, no answer.
“Fine! I’m going back to the beach, and the fire, and the coldness knowing I was abandoned by some maniac guy who thinks he’s the lord of time!” I yell.
“Thinks?”
I jump and turn to find Correolanus leaning against a tree.
His bowtie is undone and his hair is messy, but there’s something different about him.
I walk over to him and stomp on his foot.
“_That _is for leaving me, and _that_,” I say punching his arm, “is for scaring me.”
I huff and turn back towards the beach, and hear Correolanus holding his foot in pain.
“How… are you… so… strong!” He says loudly, jumping up and down on one foot.
I resist the urge to laugh.
“Think about that the next time you decide to abandon me!” I say, trying to sound firm so that he wouldn’t do it again.
“I’m sorry, really I am, I had to go find some food though.”
I glare at him.
“You scared me! And why are we on this stupid island anyway, I want to go back to my family!” I say, tears pooling in my eyes.
He looks at me with so much sympathy my heart melts.
“I know this is hard Melody. I had to go through the same thing.” He looks down, and I notice the bruises all over his arms and legs.
His shirt is also ripped, red, and purple.
My face goes pale, and I rush over to him.
“What happened?” I say looking him over.
He must’ve liked the change of subject because he managed a weak smile.
“I’m fine Melody, but you need rest.”
He tries to push me forward but I resist.
“Not until you’re better.” I put his arm over my shoulder and help him to the warm fire.
The fire crackles and hisses as I hand Correolanus a small bottle of water. He winces.
“Don’t worry, I got it from a stream, now dress your wounds or I will.”
That did it. He quickly grabs the bottle, his face flushing red. Mine does too.
His shirt is already off, and I can tell he’s uncomfortable enough as is.
Then I ask the question that’s been bugging me. At least, bugging me more than the other _burning_ one that I know he won’t answer.
“Something’s off about you, but I can’t quite put my finger on it,” I say.
He laughs “Thanks.”
“No, that’s not what I-“ he stops me.
“I know what you meant Melody, I’m just messing with you. My accent changes depending on what continent or country we land in. We’re in London right now.”
I cock my head, confused.
Then I realize he’s cute with a British accent.
He laughs, and my heart races.
Can he read my thoughts?
“If I dig deep enough.” He responds.
If you didn’t know I was human, you might’ve thought I was a beet in that moment.
Then he laughs again.
“You’re cute when you’re confused. Get some rest, we’ve got a long day ahead of us.”
My face burning, I bury my head under the blankets he had out.
I get even redder when he comes closer next to me.
“For the warmth, it’s gonna get pretty cold tonight.”
I can tell he’s enjoying my embarrassment.
I curl up in a ball and try to breathe.
_ We’ve got a long day ahead of us._
What could he possibly mean by that?
