New Year. New Me.

Everyone could tell I wasn’t myself lately. Usually I’m the life of the party always a joy to converse with, never one to yell. Until I lost my temper at Frankie’s tea party and destroyed the whole tea set. I’ve never been more ashamed of myself in that moment. It was then discovered my personal diet was interfering with my social life. It would seem I was becoming more of what I ate. So much like every other common person; I changed my diet and hoped to try something new that will benefit me more in the long run. I didn’t want to be the grumpy friend anymore. I owed it to myself personally to take this new journey on. Needless to say it’s been tough. Only two weeks into the new year and I already wanted to give up and devour the whole town. But that wouldn’t be possible. Not for the new me I’m hoping to become. So that’s why you find me here, at Windale’s finest Senior Center Walking Club. Here you’ll find people from different generations coming together to enjoy the outdoors. I never really gave much thought to joining one of these clubs until I needed help with my New Year’s Resolution. This is both my distraction and my protection, I need to be among others looking to stay focused and agile. Plus it fits in with my new diet change.I can save time getting something to eat all while keeping my mood in check by enjoying nature at its finest. It also keeps me out of the city. Although It’s only been two days of class ,I feel like it might be helping. I’m less angrier than usual when it comes to my food and that’s a good sign. When it’s time for class I never like to draw attention to myself when I’m out and about for fear that someone might recognize me. So I do my best to cover up and stay hidden among the others. I really don’t need them to bombard me with such outlandish questions, so I always wear my best disguise. Which consists of a hoodie, long pants, a hat and sunglasses. It seems to be working cause I haven’t been approached once during these little walks. We mainly stay on the smaller park trails and it usually never consists more than moms, toddlers and babies. The very few who wouldn’t look twice my way. Occasionally I do need to disappear to take care of business and will return to the group in time before it’s time to take off. I’m pretty quick about it so I’ll almost always go unnoticed. Being so close to the hiking trails of the mountains allows me to sneak away and try the different tastings of my new diet. I haven’t really tasted more than a rabbit , but I’m hoping to try something a little more exotic , say a mountain lion or two. I just need to be careful with my new walking club , I don’t need to to be caught eating during these walks. Can you imagine if they spotted me , Count Dracula , the most infamous vampire of all eating the blood of animals. I’d lose my reputation in a second.
